URBAN LIFESTYLE, ANCIENT WISDOMThe origins of Shiatsu massage lies within the ancient Chinese. They used the principals of shiatsu in both their medical philosophy and practice. It was developed around 530 B.C. Later, shiatsu massage was exported into Japan, Southeast Asia, and Korea where it was widely practiced. In the 20th century, this therapy was used for treating simple muscular tension and providers were licensed. Shiatsu became popular in the United States, Europe and Australia in the 1970s.
Shiatsu works with the “body's meridians” or energy channels to restore the body equilibrium. It create the smooth “flow of chi” or the body's life force. It offers an opportunity to become aware of the way in which we inhabit our bodies. Through understanding breathing pattern, posture and mental attitude the practitioner and client can begin to uncover the root cause of suffering, be it mental or physical.
Over time the supportive relationship encourages the client to become independent through finding positive ways of empowering and improving the quality of their life.
PREVENTION IS THE BEST CUREDon't wait for a full blown disease...
Shiatsu is also a preventative therapy.
EXPERIENCE SHIATSUDue to new Advertising Standards Agency regulations that took effect on March 1st 2011, we can no longer advertise any conditions that shiatsu may be good for.
Intolerant scepticism says that “no official scientific evidences” prove that shiatsu can treat disease such as:
Backache and pain
Muscular tension or stiffness
Depression or anxiety
Exhaustion or fatigue
High blood pressure
